608 Farm & Equine Veterinary Surgeons raise £3,500 for charity.

A team of Warwickshire veterinary surgeons has raised £3,500 for charity by hosting a series of equine lectures.
Staff from XLVets 608 Farm and Equine Veterinary Surgeons in Rowington Green near Warwick presented a cheque to the Sue Pike Equine and Animal Rescue (SPEAR) following a series of lecture evenings held at Solihull Riding Club’s new facilities. The West Midlands-based club also sponsored the event.

Lecture topics

Lectures covered diseases and conditions of the skin, heart, lungs, back and stomach, as well as Cushing’s disease and laminitis.

XLVets 608 Farm and Equine Veterinary Surgeons senior partner and vet Steve Borsberry said: “SPEAR is a local charity that does a lot of good work.

“We carry out the veterinary work for SPEAR, so we have a lot of involvement with it… it is a very good cause… and everybody was really pleased with the event.”

Mr Borsberry thanked everyone for their involvement, including vet Sarah Witeoak who, he said, did 98% of the organising.

Guest speakers included Derek Knottenbelt, Gayle Hallowell, Matt Smith, Tim Brazil and Andy Durham, while sponsorship came from Bayer, Boehringer Ingelheim, Dechra Veterinary Products and Merial.
